NEX To Honor Veterans with Limited Edition Coin

NAVSUP LogoTo honor the service of Veterans, the NEX commissioned a limited edition commemorative Veterans Day coin. The coin will be presented to retired veterans at select NEX stores on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 11am-2pm. The coin will also be available online at myNavyExchange.com when a purchase is made from Nov. 8 - 14.

The significance and history of a military challenge coin has traveled throughout many generations of U.S. service members. For Veterans Day and to honor all Veterans the NEX will present a limited edition coin to those who have worn the uniform. It is a way for the NEX to say thank you for the selfless sacrifice and years of service with a gesture of military history and heritage.

U.S. Navy veteran, retired Master Chief Scott Gray, Vice President, Navy Exchange Service Command’s Ships Store Program will be presenting coins on Saturday. “I am honored to help say thank you to all those who came before me and even to those that served alongside me,” said Gray. “A challenge coin has such a deep meaning, and when I shake that veteran’s hand it’ll be that reminder for both us that we served our nation with pride, we share a commonality not many understand and we’ll carry that sentiment with us for always.”

The rectangular coin features on the front a brightly colored American flag with the declaration “HONORING ALL WHO SERVE.” On the back surrounding the U.S. Navy’s logo, the words “UNITED STATES VETERAN 11 NOVEMEBR 2018” encircled by five stars and the four other military branches’ logos.

Please check with your local NEX for their participation and confirmed time for distribution.
