NEX, AAFES, MCX and DeCA Celebrate Military Children with Care Events

NAVSUP LogoWorldwide NEX locations will host NEX Cares events for military children. In honor of the “Day of the Deployed” and in conjunction with the Marine Corps Exchange, Army/Air Force Exchange and the Defense Commissary Agency, NEX Cares events will be held this Saturday, Oct. 27.

The National Day of the Deployed honors all of the brave service members who have deployed and alongside them, their loved ones who have made countless sacrifices for our nation. NEX Cares recognizes this sacrifice by hosting an event for military children to create a personalized, one-of-a-kind care package for their currently deployed loved one. Children will receive a $20 NEX Gift card and a $10 DeCA gift card to help shop for their deployed parent’s favorite treats and essentials to include inside the care package.

NEX Cares events are held throughout the year at various NEX store locations. These events help military children feel connected to their deployed parent and provide them with a sense of pride for putting together a special package all on their own. Along with the gift cards, children are also provided with arts and crafts and encouraged to write notes, create artwork and decorate their package before it is shipped for free by the NEX.

On Saturday, Oct. 27, the participating NEX locations include: NEX Norfolk, Va.; NEX San Diego, Calif.; NEX Pearl Harbor; NEX Pensacola and Mayport, Fla.; NEX New London, Conn.; NEX Whidbey Island and Everett, Wash.; NEX Yokosuka and Sasebo, Japan; NEX Guam; NEX Rota, Spain. Check with these locations for more information and time of the event.
